I moved to a new place. There have been boxes and suitcases staring at me waiting to be unpacked.

Unlike a lot of young women, my problem is not that I have too many clothes or shoes. Nope, I wish it were that simple. My problem: too many books and papers.

How do you throw away good books? You don't, at least that's what I've convinced myself. So now I'm in search of good sturdy book cases that will hold my precious books and papers. I need the room to have a library/study feel not a-tornado-has-just-come-through-here look.

I'd give up skirts, dresses or a pair of shoes (well almost any) to make sure that I've got enough room for my books. But the papers... maybe it's time for me to get a shredder and get busy. I have essays that I wrote in my first year of University. Each time I think about throwing them away I think to myself "what if my Alma Mater suddenly decides that they need to re-investigate why my Professor gave me an A for this paper". Or I think "what if in the future my children want to see what a paper on hermeneutics or biblical theology looks like". I know both of these scenarios are unlikely to happen!

I have bank statements, receipts and other boring documents like that. I've also got those sentimental kinds of things like ballet tickets from a date, appreciation notes from friends and church family, birthday cards that people actually bothered to write in, sermon scripts, journals and diaries and the list could go on for a while.

Naturally, I'm an organiser. I like to know where things are but I'm not bothered if things are displaced and disheveled at times. If anyone knows of a place/website where I can get really good deals on wood bookcases please do let me know. As for my papers, the important ones, I think I'll begin the process of scanning them. Important documents will be saved but the rest has gots to go!
