Reflections on Haiti Earthquake

It's been a while. I've been writing... essays, book reviews, to-do lists and emails.
As I'm writing this the snow outside is glistening reflecting the sunlight which also streams through my window. Today is a good day as I'm reading and writing about a Swedish scholar who helped to change some trends in biblical interpretation.

This morning I called home but I could not get through with my phone card. I realised then that the lines are probably busy because many people are trying to contact their beloved family and friends in Haiti. The earthquake in Haiti has been devastating. This morning as I prayed, I prayed for the thousands who are living in anxiety, despair and grief. I thought about how God watches his children suffer and how his heart must bleed. This week our lesson study is talking about Joy and it's at these times that joy seems to be unattainable. Yet, God is a miracle-working God. Remembering those who have lost their lives in this natural disaster but especially remembering those who are left behind and have to live their lives without their beloved family and friends in Haiti.

God, you are our comfort when everything seems senseless...
