On waiting and Watching
It's the waiting... the waiting and watching. It's sometimes long and tedious but that's what Christ has put before us.
The waiting and the watching is not for the I-want-it-all and I-want-it-now Christian.
Every now and again I struggle with the vision, struggle with the concept that faith is the substance of things hoped for and believing the not-seen evidence.
The enemy sneers and jeers at me
Tries to discourage me- that I will not receive
The answer to this prayer that I've prayed for many years, the words have changed but the sentiment remains
It's the waiting, the waiting and the watching. It's logic-opposing but that's what Christ has put before us.
The waiting and the watching is not for the I-want-it-all and I-want-it-now Christian.
A wrestling match, this tension that has been building in my heart
Yes, I do believe but the unbelief sometimes wants to overtake and consume me
But you told me these times would come
The time of sifting by the wicked one
This is where my faith and love are tested
Are my words merely that or are they a living testimony that I trust your heart more than what my eyes can see
and that I'm wiling to delay instant gratification so you can mature your incredible way in me
It's the waiting, the waiting and the watching. It's logic-opposing but that's what Christ has put before us.
The waiting and the watching is not for the I-want-it-all and I-want-it-now Christian.
The waiting and watching... it's what Christ has put before us.
