ANNOYING but revealing
Annoying. I've just watched an interview with a notorius family in US who believe that God hates teh world and have made a religion on this premise.
I was just so annoyed after watching them because this is what the general public sees. They're fed this monostrous picture of God and his followers. It is OUTRAGEOUS that Christianity has come under so much scruitny because of idiots who wish to incite hatred, war and fear in peoples lives by coming under the name of 'Christian'.
It makes me annoyed so i wonder how God feels when he hears people taking his name in vain and making him out to be someone that he is not.
For all the negative and false images that people have set up of God I pray that God somehow allows his true character, nature and love for humanity to shine beyond and above the atrocious lies and propaganda.
It makes me more aware of the power of my words and actions as i seek to be a Christian: someone who is a follower of Jesus Christ the son of God. It makes me more determined to search the scriptures, pray more so that i do not set up false images/ideas about who he is through the way that i talk and the way that i live.
The Bible states that GOD IS LOVE. It is annoying that there are christians who propogate that GOD IS HATE and is waiting to condemn people to an everlasting hell. They haven't read the bible in its entirety and experienced the saving love of God. They want to make it harder for people to get into the kingdom of heaven by painting disgusting images of who God is and what his desire is.
So my annoyance tells me that i need to be more intentional about how i represent Jesus Christ to those around me and it also reminds me that i can never limit God to my imagination for he supersedes it.
Every Christian needs to think about the God that they preach and teach about...is it true to God's self-revelation that he has given to humanity in the Bible?
God you are great because you are strong enough and loving enough to watch people profane your name and character and yet you still love them and spare their lives to give them yet another chance of embracing your saving love. You're also gracious enough to reveal yourself to us as individual christians so that we can identify when someone is speaking wrongly of you. Its your love and greatness that keeps us on this earth to live another day to see your new mercies. Like the author of lamentations said 'Great is you Faithfulness' even when many times we can be so faithless. Thank you, God!
